The masterminds behind this impressive project are Q Energy, a Berlin-based company dedicated to advancing green energy solutions. They have successfully secured financing of 50.4 million euros, ensuring that the construction, which began last year, will continue without financial hurdles.
By next year, this innovative solar plant is expected to be completed, with its connection to the power grid slated for the first quarter of 2025. The sheer scale of this project is awe-inspiring: 134,649 photovoltaic panels will be installed, boasting a total capacity of 74.3 MW. This output is projected to meet the energy needs of around 37,000 residents, making a substantial contribution to reducing our reliance on fossil fuels.
The environmental benefits are equally significant, with an anticipated reduction of CO2 emissions by about 18,000 tons annually. This shift not only supports environmental preservation but also sets a powerful example for future renewable energy projects across the globe.
To put the scale in perspective, the solar farm will cover an area of 127 hectares, akin to about 180 football fields. This vast expanse repurposes land previously used for gravel extraction, which had ceased in 2020, showcasing a clever reuse of industrial sites for environmental gain.
